To strengthen our Production Team, DIVSYS International-ICAPE (part of ICAPE Group) is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Repair & Rework Operator to join our facility in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Your mission will be to perform high-quality repair, rework and modification of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), ensuring compliance with IPC standards, customer requirements and internal quality procedures.
You will work closely with our Production, Engineering and Quality teams in a technical manufacturing environment serving demanding industries including aerospace, defense, medical, industrial and automotive.
As a Repair & Rework Operator, you will be responsible for repairing, modifying and inspecting SMT and through-hole electronic assemblies.
Using your soldering and rework expertise, you will ensure that all repaired assemblies meet the required workmanship, quality and traceability standards while contributing to continuous improvement across our production processes.
Perform repair, rework and modification of SMT and through-hole (THT) assemblies, including component removal and replacement, site preparation, conductor and land repair, and jumper wire modifications
Work with multiple solder alloys and flux systems, selecting the correct combination for the assembly and the customer specification
tin-lead (SnPb) and lead-free (SAC and equivalent) alloys
no-clean and water-soluble flux systems
observe segregation and cross-contamination controls between leaded and lead-free product
Carry out all repair and rework in accordance with IPC-7711/7721 (Rework, Modification and Repair of Electronic Assemblies) and verify the result against IPC-A-610 acceptance criteria at the class level specified by the customer
Inspect customer returns: verify the reported failure, locate the defect, determine the cause where it can be established, and carry out the repair
Document all repair activity – defect found, method applied, materials used and final result – on the traveler or repair record so that the history of every assembly remains traceable
Remove and re-apply conformal coating on repaired areas where the assembly requires it
Handle all assemblies in accordance with ESD control and moisture-sensitive device (MSD) requirements
Set up, operate and maintain rework equipment – hot air and hot gas rework stations, BGA rework systems, preheaters, soldering and desoldering stations, and inspection microscopes – and keep tips, nozzles and consumables in serviceable condition
Work from assembly drawings, schematics, bills of material and customer-specific work instructions
Feed defect data and observations back to Engineering and Quality so that recurring defects are addressed at source rather than repaired repeatedly
Maintain a clean, organized and 5S-compliant work area
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electronics is preferred
Previous experience in hand soldering, desoldering and PCB/PCBA rework within an electronics manufacturing environment
Good working knowledge of IPC-7711/7721 repair and rework procedures
Good understanding of IPC-A-610 acceptance criteria
IPC Specialist (CIS) certification preferred or ability to obtain certification within the first months of employment
Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) certification is a strong advantage
Practical experience working with both tin-lead and lead-free solder alloys and different flux systems
Ability to read assembly drawings, schematics, bills of material and technical work instructions
Comfortable performing detailed visual work under magnification and handling small electronic components
Knowledge of ESD and moisture-sensitive device handling requirements
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accurate documentation
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and ERP/MES data entry
Reliable, organized and able to manage priorities effectively
Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment, avionics, military or medical electronics is an advantage
Depending on your experience, certifications and technical expertise, this position may offer the opportunity to develop into an Internal IPC Trainer role.
In this capacity, you may:
Deliver internal IPC training and re-certification for operators and inspectors
Maintain training records, certification status and internal training matrices
Coach and qualify operators in soldering, rework and inspection techniques
Support the development and qualification of new repair processes and work instructions
Act as an internal technical reference for IPC standards and workmanship requirements
Permanent full-time position
Competitive salary based on experience
Health and employee benefits in accordance with company policy
Technical and hands-on working environment
Training and professional development opportunities
Career development opportunities within an international group
International and multicultural working environment
Position open to applicants with disabilities
